In a classroom setting, the only logical method is to teach the same lesson to all of the students. If one student's unique learning style is not adhered to and respected by the teacher, then that student will likely fall behind the rest of the class. This is an extremely unfortunate outcome; however, it can be remedied by employing the use of a competent tutor, like me! As a tutor, it is not enough to simply try various different teaching methods out in the hopes that one will be successful in reaching the student. Just like the students we teach, we tutors must do our homework as well. This work includes conducting initial research on the student by asking the student questions, getting to know the student, and observing their strengths and weaknesses. In tandem with the Montessori philosophy, it is this method that has provided me with the most success during my teaching career. My specialties are Algebra and elementary- and middle school-level Math, although I am capable of teaching a wide range of other subjects. Another of my strengths, and something I am quite proficient at teaching, is Mandarin Chinese. I can tutor students at all levels of this language. In my spare time, I enjoy singing and playing a good game of tennis.
